WELCOME!
What is Vermont Postal History? It's the study of the post offices in the state of Vermont. This included cancellations, mail routes, stories, anything about Vermont and the postal service.
I am president of the Vermont Philatelic Society, an organization of about 200 members from within and without the state of Vermont. Our website is http://www.vermontps.org
I hope to interest people in collecting the postal history of Vermont. Also, it is my hope that this blog can become a clearing house for information about Vermont Postal History.

ReplyDeleteMr. Estus,
Congratulations!
Thank you for the post. It's very interesting and shows a lot of research on your part.
You are contributing to the knowledge of Vermont for those of us in other parts of the
country. And you are contributing to my knowledge of the postal system through the
history.
What you may not be aware of doing, is you are providing a template for others who want to
spread information about "the stories of the covers". I believe that each cover is in
some ways an "archeological find". The story associated with each cover is a mini history
lesson, a window to the past, something we can bequeath to our future.
I am one of those persons who believes that our hobby/collection can be of value to others
when it's shared, and the miracle of internet is a perfect medium for that to happen. I'd
like to invite folks of any age, and any location, to pick up a shovel/thread and add to
the knowledge. I'd especially like to see young people find something that interests them
and "dig" around in a box of stamps or covers and add to the stories.
If you are so inclined, please enjoy my humble blogg which I have started for my Dad's
voluminous collection. It's at http://mybaillywick.blogspot.com/
Keep up the good work, Mr. Estus. It's worth it.
Peace,
Ms. Bailly

ReplyDeleteWas glad to see your cover story was on discontinued post offices, though sad to see the three in our area of Rochester--Talcville, 2 miles south, and West Rochester and Robinson, 5 miles west, weren't included. I'd love to see cancellations and envelopes from these!
